Java Developer (Multiple Levels) 
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £60,000 - £90,000

Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Java Developer to join a growing technology organisation, contributing to the development of software solutions for complex technical challenges. The role will involve using Java and broader software development skills to build, maintain and improve applications, solve technical problems and support the delivery of effective technology solutions. You will apply strong programming principles, analytical thinking and a practical approach to developing high-quality, reliable software.

The ideal candidate will have solid Java development experience, strong problem-solving abilities and a genuine interest in technology, with the ability to take ownership of their work and contribute to a collaborative, technically focused environment.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable Java applications.
Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices.
Analyse complex technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to testing and deployment.
Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Improve application performance, reliability and scalability.
Participate in code reviews and take ownership of technical deliverables.Skills & Experience:

At least five years of professional Java development experience; eight or more years would be advantageous.
Strong knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming and software design principles.
Experience developing and maintaining complex applications.
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL.
Familiarity with version control, automated testing and modern development practices.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
A proactive, collaborative approach and a strong desire to learn.
Strong academic achievement, ideally excellent A-Level results and a degree from a highly regarded university. A first-class degree is preferred for less experienced candidates, while a 2:1 is acceptable for more experienced applicants.Desirable Experience:

Developing scalable, high-performance or distributed applications.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies and containerisation.
