Junior Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitments Design & Projects team are working on an exciting opportunity for a Junior Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business operating at a global level. This role offers hands-on experience across mechanical design, production support, and continuous product development, with excellent career progression potential.

You’ll be working closely with a multidisciplinary team on specialist equipment for a wide range of sectors, contributing to the full product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping to final production and testing.

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software)

• Create and update 2D/3D technical drawings, assemblies, and BOMs

• Support senior engineers in concept design, testing, and engineering calculations

• Liaise with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure accurate production handover

• Participate in design reviews, product improvements, and R&D projects

• Maintain technical documentation in accordance with ISO and CE/UKCA compliance

• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline

• Proficient in CAD software (ideally SolidWorks)

• Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills

• Enthusiastic team player with a willingness to learn and develop

• Good communication and organisational skills

• Any prior design or fabrication processes experience (sheet metal, pneumatics, motion control) would be beneficial but we can also consider graduates

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture (DFM)

• Placement/internship or hands-on engineering experience
