The Junior Field Service Engineer role will involve nationwide travel to visit company sites. Where possible efforts will be made to regionalise travel around engineers locations, but flexibility must be given. Company van, fuel card, food allowance and hotel accommodation will all be provided.
Role & Responsibilities
To carry out the maintenance and repair to clients carriage wash plants, controlled emission toilet extraction plant and fluid / fuel storage, dispensing systems and any other systems as required within their depots as scheduled, by reactive call outs and or as instructed by the Divisional Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The Junior Engineer is required to adhere to all and ensure they are aware and understand all company policies and procedures including all updates. They shall be responsible for adhering to site operational safety issues and reporting back to the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor.
Competencies
On application the prospective candidate shall: Have an idea of basic Electrical, Mechanical principles or both Have a basic understanding of the nature of the work, the working environment and the potential hazards. Have a basic understanding of the correct use of tools and equipment Have a basic understanding of PPE required to carry out the tasks
Within six months employment:- The post holder shall have received re-training if applicable and appropriate in the correct use of hand tools and equipment. Hold a valid PTS certificate
Development:- The core aim within the job role of Junior engineer is to engage, learn and improve with the prospect of promotion and development within the business
The key responsibilities the Junior Engineer must begin to achieve are to; Assist other engineers whilst learning daily duties and tasks. Be amenable demonstrating good customer service skills as the first point of contact with the Client Ensure that they have booked on and off site by the clients representative Ensure the job sheet / work schedule is completed correctly and signed by the client and submitted daily within the working daily working hours Comply with Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Company Standards and the Train Operating Company Standards. Be in possession and wearing the appropriate PPE when reporting for duty. Ensure they are NOT under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs when reporting for duty. Declare any prescribed drugs information to the business and to complete a declaration when their PTS certification is achieved. Have a clear understanding of the Method Statement and Risk Assessment for the work to be carried out. Have a clear understanding of the emergency procedures to be followed in case of accidents & incidents. Report all accidents or incidents to the Divisional Manager or Maintenance Supervisor in his deputy immediately. Ensure that the company mobile telephone is functional at the site and has sufficient battery life for the shift. Obtain authorisation from the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor when excess hours are required to be worked in times of emergency Report any non-attendance of staff to the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor Forward all completed timesheets and maintenance paperwork to the office on a daily basis within working hours Keep the company vehicle in good condition and report any vehicle defects or incidents weekly Ensure that vehicle accidents or incidents are reported and recorded immediately to the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor Be "on-call" once competency has been proven as directed by the Divisional Manager / Maintenance Supervisor Attend, as required, engineering and client safety meetings Undertake any other duties within their competence level as reasonably required by the Company
