Are you a Product Design or Design Engineering graduate looking to start your career in a hands-on design and manufacturing environment? Or perhaps you already have some early industry experience and are looking for your next step?
We’re working with a growing, award-winning manufacturer to recruit a Junior Design Engineer into their established design team.
You’ll be designing bespoke retail display units used by major high-street brands, taking customer requirements and turning them into practical, manufacturable products.
This is a great opportunity to develop your CAD and Product Design skills while seeing the products you design go from concept and CAD through manufacture and ultimately into stores across the UK.
The Role
* Design and develop bespoke retail display units and products
* Produce 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor
* Turn customer briefs and concepts into practical, manufacturable designs
* Design products incorporating materials including timber, plastics and other manufactured components
* Consider product positioning, usability, appearance and functionality within the overall design
* Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be produced efficiently
* Make design modifications and improvements throughout the development process
* Support projects from initial concept through to manufacture
* Develop your knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and commercial Product Design
The Person
* Degree qualified in Product Design, Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline
* A good understanding of 3D CAD gained through university, placements or industry experience
* Autodesk Inventor experience would be advantageous, although experience with other 3D CAD packages will be considered
* An interest in designing physical products for manufacture
* Good understanding of Product Design and design-for-manufacture principles
* Practical, creative and able to turn ideas into workable solutions
* Graduate, junior and early-career applicants are all encouraged to apply
* Must be eligible to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available
Why Apply?
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your time making minor changes to the same product.
You’ll work on bespoke projects for major retail customers, developing products that are manufactured and then used in stores across the UK.
For a graduate or junior engineer, it offers an excellent opportunity to build genuine commercial design experience, develop your CAD skills and learn how products move from an initial customer requirement through design and into manufacture.
