Kitchen Assistant

Working for a lovely care home in Frenchay we are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to undertake the following duties;

The hours are 8-2:30 or could be 07:30 - 3pm and will involve working over some weekends however they can be flexible on hours with school runs etc

The Kitchen Assistant is a member of the Kitchen team appointed to support the care team in food preparation and ensuring the kitchen environment is clean, organised and following health and safety standards at a minimum. This role involves ensuring smooth kitchen operations and high-quality food deliverance.

Key Responsibilities

Reheating food that the chefs at the central kitchen have prepared, making hot breakfasts if necessary, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen environment and washing up.

Assisting with food preparation and portioning up food onto plates

Cleaning and maintaining kitchen surfaces, utensils and equipment to ensure we maintain high hygiene standards

Assisting in the storage of food from deliveries, making sure it is all labelled up properly and rotating foods to maintain freshness

Helping with cooking tasks such as making resident breakfasts in the morning and re-heating food for lunchtime

Wash dishes, cups, pots, pans, utensils, ensuring a good supply of clean equipment

Ensure waste is thrown away in line with the care homes policies

Support care workers in maintaining efficient service during lunchtimes

Adhere to food safety regulations and help maintain a safe working environment

Assist with ordering if necessary and stocking supplies

Reporting any maintenance concerns to the in-house maintenance team
