Job Description - Lab Technician

Lab Technician – Mechanical Testing (Fasteners)
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum
Sector: Manufacturing / Engineering – Fasteners

A well-established manufacturer of high-performance fasteners is currently seeking a Lab Technician to join its testing and quality department in Wolverhampton. This is a key role focused on mechanical testing, with a particular emphasis on impact testing. Experience with tensile testing is also highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Lab Technician you will Conduct impact testing on metallic fasteners to relevant industry standards
Perform tensile, hardness, and shear tests as required
Record and interpret test results accurately and clearly
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment in line with quality procedures
Support investigations into quality concerns and material performance issues
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure product integrity

Requirements:

Lab Technician Previous experience in mechanical testing within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong knowledge of impact testing procedures (e.g. Charpy or equivalent)
Experience with tensile testing equipment and procedures is an advantage
Ability to understand and work from technical drawings and material specifications
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation
