Take the lead in ensuring quality, compliance, and accuracy in a busy, hands-on QC laboratory.

Our client is seeking an experienced QC Laboratory Manager to oversee all daily operations within their Quality Control laboratory. Managing a small team of two Quality Controllers, you'll coordinate analytical testing schedules, maintain compliance with GMP, and ensure the lab runs smoothly - all while staying hands-on with testing when required.

This is an ideal role for someone with strong technical knowledge of HPLC and GC testing who also enjoys managing people, maintaining equipment, and driving quality standards.

The Role

• Lead, coordinate, and supervise daily QC testing activities in line with production needs.
• Carry out analytical and physical testing (HPLC, GC, FTIR, melting points, etc.) when needed.
• Oversee lab maintenance, preventative servicing, and GMP compliance.
• Approve and verify test data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to SOPs.
• Mentor and train QC staff, conducting regular performance reviews.
• Write, review, and approve key quality documents, SOPs, and analytical methods.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with contractors for repairs.
• Support production with testing schedules and timely reporting.
• Manage third-party contract testing facilities where required.
• Drive continuous improvement, identifying new analytical techniques and methods.

About You

• Proven experience in a QC laboratory environment with HPLC and GC expertise.
• Strong knowledge of GMP and QMS requirements.
• Hands-on approach - comfortable doing both management and bench work.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a small team.
• Skilled in method development, equipment troubleshooting, and compliance processes.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to coordinate with production and QA teams.
