Our London Based client is seeking a Landscape Team Leader to join their vibrant team.
The Landscape Team Leader is responsible for supervising and coordinating a small site team, typically comprising 2–5 landscapers, to deliver landscape construction works safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard. The role provides a vital link between the Project Coordinator and the site team, supporting clear communication, consistent standards, and well-coordinated delivery on site.
In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Landscape Team Leader is a working role and is expected to actively carry out skilled landscape construction works alongside the team. The Team Leader leads by example through high-quality workmanship, safe working practices, and effective site organisation.
This role description sets out the expected standard of competence for a Landscape Team Leader within the business. Individuals will typically progress into this role from the Skilled Landscaper position and will be supported in developing leadership, planning, and site management capability over time.

Leadership and Team Management
* Supervises and coordinates a team of landscapers on site.
* Allocates daily tasks clearly, ensuring the team understands priorities, methods, and expected standards.
* Leads the team by example, carrying out skilled landscape works alongside operatives where required.
* Monitors productivity, workmanship, and progress against the programme.
* Provides day-to-day guidance and mentoring.
* Maintains a positive, professional, and well-organised site environment.
Project and Site Management
* Organises and sequences daily site activities to ensure efficient delivery of works.
* Plans daily works with consideration for both supervision and their own involvement in skilled construction tasks.
* Ensures all works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications, and method statements.
* Oversees the safe and efficient use of materials, plant, and equipment.
* Coordinates with subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades as required.
* Reports progress, constraints, and resource requirements to the Project Coordinator.
Quality and Workmanship
* Responsible for maintaining the company’s quality standards across all site works.
* Takes direct responsibility for the quality of their own work as well as that of the wider site team.
* Carries out regular checks on levels, alignment, finishes, and overall workmanship.
* Identifies defects, errors, or inefficiencies and implements corrective action promptly.
* Ensures the site is kept tidy, organised, and well presented at all times.
Health & Safety
Enforces site safety procedures and ensures full compliance with PPE requirements.
Delivers toolbox talks, daily briefings, and site inductions where required.
Monitors site hazards and reports incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions.
Ensures safe operation of tools, plant, and equipment by all team members.
Technical Capability
* Meets and maintains the technical standard of a Skilled Landscaper role.
* Actively carries out skilled landscape construction tasks as part of the site team.
* Demonstrates best-practice techniques through practical delivery on site.
* Able to interpret drawings, specifications, and site instructions accurately.
* Competent in setting out works, checking levels, and preparing site layouts.
* Experienced in drainage, irrigation, paving, fencing, decking, planting, and finishing works.
Communication and Reporting
Communicates clearly and effectively with the site team and the Project Coordinator.
Provides regular updates on progress, quality, and site issues.
Liaises professionally with clients, subcontractors, and other trades when required.
Records timesheets, material usage, and job progress accurately.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Proven experience as a Skilled Landscaper within landscape construction.
Demonstrated ability to lead by example while remaining hands-on in delivery.
Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities on site.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 in Landscaping or equivalent practical experience.
Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role.
CSCS card and relevant health & safety certifications.
