Layout Designer

Blue Diamond Recruitment is proud to be supporting a well-established and highly reputable five star house builder as they look to appoint a Layout Designer to join their East Midlands region on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a design-focused professional to join a respected residential developer, producing high quality and commercially viable housing layouts that align with both planning requirements and the company’s strong design principles.

The Role

As Layout Designer, you will be responsible for producing residential layout proposals that balance design quality, planning requirements and commercial viability. You will work closely with internal regional and group design teams to develop and refine schemes from early feasibility through to planning submission.

You will report into the Masterplanning Manager / Group Design Director and play a key role in shaping residential developments across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce hand-drawn feasibility layouts and detailed AutoCAD planning layouts
• Develop commercially viable residential schemes in line with design standards
• Work closely with regional teams to agree design briefs and layout proposals
• Support planning submissions with clear and well-presented design work
• Respond to design-related queries as required
• Attend internal and external meetings as part of the design process
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and design standards
• Support additional tasks as required within the design team

About You

Essential:
• Previous experience producing residential development layouts
• HNC/D or higher qualification in a relevant discipline
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Ability to produce both hand drawn and digital feasibility layouts
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Desirable:
• Experience working for a residential house builder
• Skills in Photoshop, SketchUp and InDesign
