Job Description - Lead Damp and Mould Surveyor

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Bristol, who are recruiting for a Lead Damp and Mould Surveyor on a year fixed term contract. The position is due to start offering a day rate of up to £300 to £350 per day via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in regards to Damp and Mould Surveying across social housing properties, as well as the experience when it comes to managing teams of Surveyors and overseeing programmes of works.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading and managing the damp and mould response programme, ensuring effective inspection, diagnosis, and resolution of all reported cases
  • Supervising and supporting a team of surveyors and contractors, providing technical guidance and ensuring consistent standards across all inspections
  • Overseeing complex and high-risk cases, carrying out detailed investigations and ensuring robust remedial action plans are developed and implemented
  • Developing policies and procedures to tackle damp and mould in line with regulatory requirements and sector best practice
  • Acting as the technical lead for damp and mould issues across the organisation, advising senior management, asset teams, and frontline staff
  • Championing a proactive and preventative approach, using data analysis to identify trends, root causes, and areas for investment
  • Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, including HHSRS, the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act, and emerging standards (e.g., Awaab’s Law)

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing
  • Experience working with customers within housing

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and management
  • Financial management and budgeting
  • Knowledge of AWAAB’s law and updates around the law

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
