Job Description - Lead Data Scientist

Lead Data Scientist - Hybrid - London based.

The Role

This senior role is responsible for shaping and leading the data science chapter and delivering advanced analytics, ML and AI solutions that support decision-making and commercial outcomes. You will provide technical leadership, set standards and tooling, and build a high-performing team, working across business units with support from data engineering and ML operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the organisation's data science and machine learning capability
Deliver analytics, ML and AI solutions using internal and external data
Provide technical leadership on modelling, experimentation and best practice
Establish reproducible, collaborative data science tooling and ways of working
Recruit, mentor and retain data science talent
Promote rapid prototyping and iterative delivery
Communicate data science innovation across technical and business stakeholders

Skills & Experience

Strong experience across a range of machine learning techniques
Advanced statistical capability
Strong Python skills; additional languages advantageous
Experience with generative AI, including prompt engineering, RAG and agentic approaches
Experience mentoring junior talent
Technical leadership experience; people management advantageous
