This role is open to flexible working patterns. These may include:
The Technology Directorate provides information and system technology services to all business areas in the Bank as part of Central Services. Our key objective is to support the policy and operational divisions to meet the Bank’s stated objectives.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Azure and M365 Specialist to join the Digital Workplace team. This role will work as part of the wider Microsoft 365 team within Digital Workplace, a function responsible for delivering and supporting the collaboration, productivity and information management services used across the Bank. The team owns and supports core Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, Teams, Copilot, and related information governance capabilities, alongside specialist information management and preservation platforms.
We want to make more of the technology that we have and explore opportunities to use it in new ways to make the Bank more effective. The successful candidate will bring Azure cloud experience to help design, implement and support automation solutions, service integrations and technical improvements across Microsoft 365 technologies and services. The role combines technical problem solving, stakeholder engagement, cloud engineering and continual service improvement, while contributing to the wider evolution of Digital Workplace services. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys learning new technologies, working closely with business stakeholders, and improving services that deliver long-term organisational value.
A typical day could start with a sprint stand-up with the wider team, checking progress against current priorities and agreeing how to unblock delivery. You might then join project meetings with stakeholders, take part in solution design conversations with technical colleagues, or raise change requests for product or service changes. At lunch time, you could head over to the office canteen to have a break with your colleagues, then head to an event organised by an employee network. For the second half of the day, you might be investigating incidents impacting the team’s Azure-hosted solutions, troubleshooting service issues and identifying improvements to prevent recurrence. Finally, you might dedicate some time to review upcoming changes from Microsoft to identify risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement best practice Azure-based solutions that integrate with core Microsoft 365 products to improve business processes and information management outcomes.
• Support Azure-hosted services and manage associated cloud resources used by the wider Digital Workplace team.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents, problems and service requests at a third line level.
• Document technical solutions, support procedures and operational processes.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to the development of technical capability within the wider team.
• Identify opportunities to improve service reliability, supportability, automation and user experience.
Minimum Criteria
• Experience supporting, administering or implementing Microsoft Azure cloud solutions in an enterprise environment, including services that integrate with Microsoft 365 technologies.
• Experience administering core Microsoft 365 services such as SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Teams.
• Ability to gather requirements, assess service improvement opportunities and independently design practical technical solutions that improve supportability, automation or user experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills, with experience supporting business-critical services and working effectively across technical and business teams.
Essential Criteria
• A proactive approach to service improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Awareness of how information governance, records management, compliance and data lifecycle principles influence the design and operation of workplace technology services.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams, translating needs into practical, well-governed outcomes.
• Strong analytical judgement, with the ability to understand complex issues, evaluate options and recommend proportionate solutions.
• Technical curiosity and learning agility, with enthusiasm for exploring new technologies, building knowledge independently and acting as a trailblazer for emerging capabilities.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and help shape better, more sustainable service outcomes.
Desirable Criteria
• Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio or AI Foundry, including exploring practical use cases for AI-enabled productivity, automation or service improvement.
• Power Platform technologies, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps, to deliver low-code automation and business process improvements.
• APIs, automation technologies, systems integration or Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling.
• Microsoft Purview, information governance, records management, document management, archival or digital preservation systems.
• Working in a regulated, public sector or highly governed environment, including effective engagement with third-party suppliers.
• Plus, any relevant Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Copilot or Power Platform certifications.
