Lead Electrical Design Engineer - Wroxham A leading British luxury yacht builder is looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join its design team, working on the development and production of high-quality bluewater sailing yachts. The role is based in Wroxham
As Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems across the yacht range.
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate electrical drawing packages, including electrical schematics, panel designs and cable running schedules, while providing technical support to production and contributing to product improvement and R&D projects.
Key Responsibilities of Lead Electrical Design Enginee Maintain and develop electrical design standards across the yacht range. Produce, check and update detailed 2D electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD. Develop contract-specific electrical CAD information for production. Produce accurate cable running schedules, considering manufacturing and installation requirements. Lead the Electrical Design Change Request process. Ensure electrical design information is accurate and delivered to agreed deadlines. Provide technical guidance to the wider Electrical Design team and Production Managers. Manage resources and workload within the Electrical Design function. Work closely with Production, Electrical, Engineering and Joinery teams. Attend development, production and project meetings and provide technical support. Work with Procurement and Client Managers on electrical design requirements within the supply chain. Ensure design information accurately reflects contract variations and production requirements. Support product improvement, R&D and value engineering projects. Identify opportunities to improve electrical systems, quality and manufacturing efficiency. Keep up to date with developments in marine electrical technology and industry best practice.
Essential Experience & Skills of Lead Electrical Design Enginee Strong knowledge of marine AC and DC electrical systems. Understanding of electrical installation within small craft production. Good knowledge of yacht systems, component locations and installation requirements. Significant electrical design experience, ideally within a marine environment. Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing detailed 2D electrical drawings. Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to translate manufacturing and installation requirements into accurate design information. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience of Lead Electrical Design Enginee Experience with marine digital switching systems such as CZone. Marine lighting systems and integration. Marine electrical and hybrid drive systems. Yacht or small craft production experience. Previous experience leading or coordinating electrical design resources.
Qualifications Design-related degree, relevant qualification or equivalent electrical design experience. 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification. BMEA Marine Electrical Technician qualification is desirable Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
