LTEN is seeking an experienced Lead Firmware Engineer to join a key defence client based in Edinburgh. This role will focus on leading firmware development activities for complex defence electronics, working closely with hardware teams on high-layer PCB designs, testing, and integration.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading firmware design and development for defence systems
• Collaborating with hardware engineers on 16-layer PCB design and layout considerations
• Planning and overseeing test activities, including system integration and validation
• Managing technical risks and driving engineering best practices
• Coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance with standards

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience leading firmware development teams in defence or aerospace sectors
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems programming (C, C++)
• Hands-on experience with hardware interfaces and integration, specifically with multi-layer PCB designs (16 layers preferred)
• Experience planning and conducting hardware/software integration and testing
• Familiarity with defence standards and security requirements
• Must hold or be fully eligible for UK SC Clearance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
