My client - a leading UK-based organisation undergoing a major digital transformation - is seeking a passionate and skilled Lead Engineer to guide a feature team building scalable, customer-facing applications used by millions.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll drive engineering excellence, lead a talented team of developers, and help shape innovative web and mobile platforms across lending and credit card services.

• Lead and Mentor: Manage and coach a cross-functional engineering team (up to 7 engineers).

• Build & Deliver: Design, develop, and deploy modern, testable software systems in a Java + React stack.

• Collaborate: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering Leads in a true Agile environment.

• Own the Full Lifecycle: Embrace a "you build it, you run it" approach - from design through to production support.

• Drive Innovation: Champion clean architecture, tooling improvements, and best practices across the team.

• Proven expertise in Java (17+), Spring Boot, and modern front-end frameworks like React and TypeScript.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and test-driven development using tools like Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or Pact.

• Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, Redux, Docker, GitHub, and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace or ELK.

• Experience managing and mentoring software engineers in Agile teams.

• A passion for engineering quality, scalability, and security.

• Experience building containerised applications in the cloud.

• Familiarity with GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

• A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and developer experience.
