Join the Next Generation Core team within the Core Banking division, where our client is building a modern cloud-based banking platform. This greenfield system will support customer servicing across channels and enable the creation of innovative financial products using state-of-the-art technology.
We're looking for a seasoned Java engineer to take a hands-on leadership role in designing and building enterprise-grade services. You'll help bridge our new ledger platform-powered by Thought Machine and the wider banking ecosystem through cloud-native, event-driven architecture.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and development of Java-based services that integrate with the Thought Machine Vault core banking engine.
• Build scalable APIs, orchestration layers, and platform components that abstract complex ledger functionality.
• Champion modern engineering practice's/CD, secure coding, observability, and automated testing.
• Ensure services are production-ready, resilient, and operationally sound.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams on containerisation, Kubernetes deployments, and robust cloud hosting strategies.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and governance.
• Drive integration between new platforms and existing banking systems.

What You'll Need

• Proven technical leadership in software development, including setting standards and driving design.
• Strong background in Java (11+), Spring Boot, and building enterprise-scale systems.
• Deep understanding of microservices, domain-driven design, and event-based architectures (e.g., Kafka).
• Experience with API design, system integration, and secure, high-performance services.
• Cloud-native application experience; containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes a plus.
