An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead a specialist Overhaul Department within a growing engineering business in Stroud.
This hands-on role focuses on the overhaul and maintenance of variable pitch propellers used in a wide range of aircraft. It's ideally suited to someone who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end propeller overhaul process
• Disassemble and clean components for inspection
• Carry out visual and dimensional checks using tools such as micrometers, verniers, and height gauges
• Identify and replace worn or damaged parts
• Perform zinc-nickel plating on components when required
• Prepare and balance blades for painting
• Rebuild propellers to strict specifications
• Maintain accurate records for all overhaul activity
• Supervise junior team members and maintain a tidy workshop environment

Lead Mechanical Engineer Job Requirements

• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
• Experience in aerospace or aviation engineering is a bonus
• Proficiency with technical drawings and measurement instruments
• Practical, hands-on engineering skills
• High attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and within a small team
• Positive, proactive attitude
• Interest in aviation or heritage engineering is a bonus
• Must be based locally and within a commutable distance to Stroud

Lead Mechanical Engineer Salary & Benefits

• £40,000 - £44,700 per year
• Full-time, Permanent
• Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours/week)
• 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
• Company pension
