What will you be doing? Lead the engineering design of pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, valves and associated equipment Prepare and check engineering calculations using Design by Rule and Design by Analysis methodologies Carry out stress analysis, hand calculations and FEA, ideally using ANSYS Check and sign off fabrication drawings produced by designers and draughtsmen Take ownership of projects from initial client contact through to delivery of the engineering work package Liaise directly with clients throughout projects and build strong working relationships Support the development of new business and identify opportunities with existing and new clients Lead, support and develop engineers within the team Maintain, update and develop in-house Excel-based calculation tools and engineering programmes
Where will you be doing it? You'll be joining an established engineering consultancy specialising in the design and analysis of pressure equipment and associated mechanical systems. Following a recent change in ownership, the business is growing and looking for an experienced engineer to take a leading role in the technical and commercial development of the team.
What will you need? Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering Chartered Engineer status 5+ years' relevant mechanical design experience Senior-level experience designing pressure vessels, valves or other pressure equipment Strong experience with mechanical engineering calculations and stress analysis Experience with FEA / Design by Analysis; ANSYS would be particularly beneficial Good understanding of relevant design codes and standards Comfortable taking ownership of projects and dealing directly with clients Strong communication and leadership skills
It would be beneficial if you have: Knowledge of pressure vessel design codes and international standards/directives Experience with PD5500 and/or ASME VIII Division 1 Experience with EN 14105 and API 650 Experience designing steelwork Experience using PV Elite or similar vessel design software Experience developing or working with Excel-based engineering calculation tools
