Lead Piping Designer

EFAB Industrial Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Piping Designer to join our Mechanical & Piping team.

This is a key role within our engineering team, combining hands-on design with leadership responsibilities across a range of industrial projects. You will lead piping design activities from FEED through to detailed design and construction support, ensuring solutions are safe, practical, maintainable and compliant with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and coordinate piping design activities across multiple projects.

* Develop and review piping layouts, 3D models, isometrics and general arrangement drawings.

* Provide technical guidance and support to piping designers and CAD personnel.

* Review P&IDs, line lists, equipment layouts and vendor information.

* Coordinate design interfaces with Mechanical, Process, Structural, Civil, Electrical and Instrument disciplines.

* Work closely with Pipe Stress Engineers to ensure suitable flexibility and support arrangements.

* Participate in design reviews, model reviews and clash detection activities.

* Ensure deliverables comply with project specifications, client standards and industry requirements.

* Support fabrication, construction, site surveys, tie-ins and brownfield modifications.

* Mentor junior designers and contribute to the development of design standards and best practices.

Essential Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

* Significant experience as a Piping Designer, Senior Piping Designer or Lead Piping Designer.

* Strong knowledge of industrial plant layout and piping design principles.

* Experience producing and checking piping drawings and 3D models.

* Understanding of pipe supports, thermal expansion, flexibility and stress-related requirements.

* Experience working on multidisciplinary industrial projects.

* Strong communication, planning and coordination skills.

Experience within industries such as Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Hydrogen, Pharmaceutical, Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing or COMAH facilities would be advantageous.

Software Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is desirable:

* AutoCAD / AutoCAD Plant 3D

* AVEVA E3D / PDMS

* CADWorx

* Navisworks

* Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM Platforms

* Point Cloud / Laser Scan data

Codes & Standards

A practical understanding of industry standards including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.12, EN 13480 and Pressure Equipment Regulations is desirable.

Qualifications

A degree is not essential. Relevant qualifications include:

* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design

* Engineering Technician qualifications

* Mechanical or Piping Design Apprenticeship

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
