Are you an exceptional Maths Teacher looking to take your impact to the next level? A dynamic secondary school in Chelmsford is seeking a Lead Practitioner – Maths to join their team from September 2025. This permanent role is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and offers a unique opportunity to drive improvement and excellence across the department.

 

In this key role, you’ll support the development of teaching and learning across the maths faculty, modelling outstanding practice, coaching colleagues, and helping to embed high-impact strategies. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher with a proven track record of strong outcomes, innovation in the classroom, and a passion for raising standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model and deliver consistently outstanding maths teaching.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and CPD.
  • Drive improvement in teaching, learning, and student progress across the department.
  • Lead on curriculum design, assessment, and lesson planning.
  • Monitor and analyse data to inform strategy and intervention.
  • Collaborate with school leadership on whole-school priorities.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and academic ambition.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS and a degree in Mathematics or a related field (essential).
  • Extensive teaching experience in secondary education (KS3–KS5 preferred).
  • A proven record of strong student outcomes and innovative practice.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching other teachers (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Passion for maths education and evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and raising achievement for all learners.
