Full time – 39.5 hours
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am–5pm, Friday 8am–4.30pm
Salary: £65,000–£80,000

Car Allowance: £7,000 per annum

Overall Role Purpose

This is a dynamic role suited to a candidate with excellent people and project management skills, alongside significant experience managing projects within the construction industry and a strong level of technical knowledge within the power generation sector.

The position sits within the Capital Projects function and reports to the Operations Manager. It involves extensive cross-functional working, particularly with internal Technical/Design and Sales teams, while managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

The successful candidate will help lead the continued development of project delivery, improve quality control, health and safety, and financial management, ensuring projects are delivered to a consistently high standard.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Lead a team of Project Managers and Engineers across the organisation's projects.
Drive decision-making at Project Management level and support the team across all aspects of project management.
Attend technical, commercial and contractual handover meetings with Sales and Technical teams, supporting the Project Management team with procurement and project delivery.
Ensure compliance with project processes throughout the project lifecycle, including variations, payment notifications, programme management, RAMS/health and safety and design meetings.
Manage communication between Technical/Design, Project Managers and Engineering teams to ensure project designs are completed on time and fully comply with project specifications and contractual requirements.
Drive excellence in performance and achievement across the Project Management team through mentoring, effective people management and continuous process improvement.
Take responsibility for maintaining and improving the technical, financial and overall quality of projects delivered.
Work with the Operations Manager to identify areas of weakness within the department and actively contribute to the development of the wider Projects function.
Work as part of the Projects Management Team alongside senior engineering and project management colleagues to ensure projects are delivered to specification, on time and to required quality standards, while providing outstanding customer service.
Attend company management meetings and contribute constructive ideas to wider business development.
Work with the Operations Manager to continually review the supply chain and identify opportunities for improvement.
Work with the wider management team to identify and develop talent within the industry.
Act as a strong ambassador for the Capital Projects function and the wider organisation.

Minimum of 10 years' experience within a relevant industry, with a strong level of industry expertise.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

Experience planning, managing and delivering complex technical projects, typically ranging from £150,000 to £5 million in value.
Ability to lead, develop, work with and support a wider project team, including project design engineers, CAD engineers, project management assistants, sales/account managers, commercial and finance teams.
Previous experience in a similar senior or management-level role.
Practical knowledge of the construction industry and experience delivering high-value projects, including design documentation and QHSE processes and controls.

Desirable

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
CSCS, SSSTS or SMSTS qualifications.
Relevant electrical or management qualifications.
Industry-recognised project management qualification, such as PRINCE2.
