About the Role

Breaking Wave is an internal fintech incubator for Deutsche Bank that blends startup speed with enterprise scale. As a Software Engineer, you will join a high performing cross-functional team, where you will be accountable to the Head of Technology and Product. You are a hands-on expert who uses AI as a force multiplier for your existing skills and experience and enjoy delivering working SaaS products. You turn bank ideas into reality using a design-driven MVP process, guiding AI workflows to ship high-impact products fast.

What You Will Do

• Amplify Output Through AI:
  
  
  
  • Use advanced AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to multiply your daily productivity across the software lifecycle.
  
  
  • Break complex tasks into clear specs, directing AI agents to handle heavy code generation while protecting system architecture.
  
  
  • Write clean, maintainable code using C#, TypeScript, and modern cloud platforms.
  
  
  
  

• Shape Product and Technical Strategy:
  
  
  
  • Work with bank stakeholders to understand challenges, refine products, and turn business needs into technical solutions.
  
  
  • Help manage the backlog, prioritising features based on user needs and lean delivery.
  
  
  • Drive practical use of new technologies and creative solutions to cut friction.
  
  
  
  

• Maintain Quality and Reliability:
  
  
  
  • Apply careful human oversight to AI-generated code, checking for performance, security, and consistency.
  
  
  • Champion automated testing and tooling standards that help small teams punch above their weight.
  
  
  • Own production processes, including CI/CD pipelines and deployments, ensuring a safe space to learn and ship.
  
  
  
  

Skills & Qualifications We Need

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience, combining deep technical foundations with startup agility.


• Practical expertise in AI-assisted software engineering, treating AI as a direct force multiplier.


• Strong background in modern cloud architectures, serverless, and microservices.


• Proficiency in C# and modern web stacks (TypeScript/Node.js).


• Experience building relationships with product owners to translate vague business needs into real tech execution.


• Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced, lean engineering.


• Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
