Lead Solution Architect - Cloud-Based Systems

Location: Remote (occasional travel to South East England)#

Salary: Up to £100,000 + Performance Bonuses

Clearance: Must have or be eligible for UK Security Clearance.

A leading UK-based organisation is seeking a Lead Solution Architect to spearhead the design and delivery of complex, cloud-native platforms. This senior role is ideal for someone with at least 8 years' experience architecting large-scale distributed systems, particularly on AWS.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing secure, scalable infrastructures using AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Java-based microservices. You'll be responsible for shaping technical strategy, leading architecture design, and mentoring teams across cloud transformation projects. A strong understanding of cloud security best practices, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and event-driven design is essential.

You'll play a key role in ensuring architectural standards meet business and compliance requirements, optimizing performance, and managing cloud costs. Excellent leadership, communication, and hands-on technical skills are critical to success in this position.

Preferred candidates will have: AWS certifications, experience with other cloud platforms (Azure or GCP), and a background in serverless technologies, compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and zero-trust security models.

Candidates must have either have active security clearance up to SC Level or be able to obtain security clearance in the vetting process. This means that you must have had to have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years as a sole British national.
