The Role

As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will provide technical direction across a broad range of structural engineering and testing activities. You will oversee project delivery, support laboratory and assessment programmes, and ensure the highest standards of technical excellence are maintained.

This role will suit a Chartered Structural Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, leading multidisciplinary teams and working closely with clients to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery of complex structural engineering projects from inception through to completion.

* Provide technical oversight and guidance across structural assessment, testing and engineering activities.

* Develop and review structural testing programmes, considering both static and dynamic loading conditions.

* Ensure engineering work complies with relevant British Standards, European Standards and industry regulations.

* Oversee laboratory-based testing activities, ensuring quality, consistency and safety standards are maintained.

* Coordinate engineers, technicians and technical specialists to ensure efficient project delivery.

* Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and engineering solutions.

* Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, proposals and assessment documentation.

* Support inspections and investigations relating to structural systems, materials and construction methodologies.

* Contribute to business development initiatives, client relationship management and technical presentations.

* Help drive the ongoing growth and development of the structural engineering division.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.

* Significant experience within structural engineering, testing or technical consultancy environments.

* Strong understanding of structural analysis, engineering mechanics and design principles.

* Detailed knowledge of British and European design codes and standards.

* Experience managing complex engineering projects and technical teams.

* The ability to interpret, develop and review structural testing methodologies.

* Strong report writing and technical communication skills.

* Experience engaging with clients and supporting commercial opportunities.

* Knowledge of modern and traditional construction methods and structural materials.

* Familiarity with structural fire engineering principles and assessment techniques.

* Proficiency with engineering software, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

* Excellent leadership, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
