Job Description - Lead Systems Engineer

Currently located in Titchfield, Hampshire, Eaton\u0027s Aerospace business stands as a global leader in aerospace fuel systems.\n\nOur site is undergoing a significant and exciting transformation as we relocate to a newly constructed facility in Daedalus. This state-of-the-art site will serve as the Centre of Excellence for aerospace manufacturing across Europe, marking a new era of innovation and excellence.\n\nWe pride ourselves as a premier supplier of fully integrated fuel systems for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. We boast extensive fuel and air system test facilities, facilitating comprehensive testing across a range of conditions with various fuel types\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe Lead Systems Engineer serves as the technical project lead for aerospace fuel and inerting systems. This role defines system strategy, owns cross\u2011platform architectures, and ensures technical integrity from concept through certification. The engineer leads complex integration efforts, influences technology roadmaps, guides engineering teams, and represents Eaton with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. This position requires strong systems engineering knowledge, deep domain experience, and strong technical leadership experience.\n\nTechnical Leadership \u0026 System Ownership \n\u2022 Provide technical leadership for system and product engineers, serving as the primary owner of the system and representing Systems Engineering within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). \n\u2022 Lead system\u2011level design reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) and drive technical decision\u2011making, risk identification, and resolution. \n\u2022 Serve as the primary technical authority for system architecture decisions and customer negotiations. \n\u2022 Leads resolution of high\u2011impact system issues affecting customer or programs. \n\u2022 Work directly with internal and external customers, suppliers, engineering teams, program management, and functional leaders to resolve technical challenges and meet program objectives. \n\u2022 Mentor and develop lower\u2011level systems and product engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and professional growth.\n\nSystems Engineering Execution \n\u2022 Perform systems engineering activities at the integrated system, subsystem, and component levels, including requirements development, flow\u2011down, traceability, validation, and compliance. \n\u2022 Define and analyze system architectures, interfaces, and integration plans; coordinate integration of hardware and software to ensure compatibility and configuration control. \n\u2022 Define verification strategies, not just executes them. \n\u2022 Approves system\u2011level requirements and validation evidence. \n\u2022 Leads MBSE adoption and integration across programs. \n\u2022 Guide analytical modeling approaches and review/approve model outputs. \n\u2022 Ensure compliance with aerospace certification requirements through systematic integration, verification, and documentation. \n\u2022 Prepare and review technical documents\u2014including specifications, analysis reports, integration plans, and certification evidence\u2014to ensure accuracy and completeness. \n\u2022 Support project engineering activities, including schedule development, risk management, and cross\u2011functional coordination.\n\nProcess Improvement \u0026 Standards Development \n\u2022 Supports harmonization of standards across Eaton Aerospace sites. \n\u2022 Develop and refine Systems Engineering processes, standards, work instructions, and best practices for the organization. \n\u2022 Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned across programs to drive continuous improvement. \n\u2022 Develop efficient analysis tools, design methods, and verification techniques to improve system architecture accuracy and predictability.\" \n\n## Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering (or equivalent)\n * Minimum of 8 years of experience in performing systems engineering activities.\n * Minimum 2 years project leadership experience.\n * Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering from an accredited university.\n\n\n\n## Skills:\n\n * Design or system architecting; requirements development, component or system design (aerodynamic, mechanical, electrical, controls), piping design, spatial integration, wiring harnesses, system actions and alarms definition.\n * Verification and validation: Test plan writing, test management, data analysis, instrument selection, test loop definition, procedure creation, test witnessing.\n * Certification compliance - SAE ARP4754B.\n * INCOSE CSEP certification or plan to achieve within 6 months.\n * Demonstrated authority in systems architecture for safety\u2011critical aerospace systems.\n * Experience leading multi\u2011disciplinary engineering teams across sites.\n * Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), MATLAB Simulink, Avionics, Controls (Control Logic) \u0026 Monitoring.\n * Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability \u0026 Safety.\n * Experience influencing technology roadmaps or product line architectures.\n * Experience collaborating with regulatory bodies (EASA/FAA) on certification topics.\n * External systems engineering credentials (e.g., INCOSE CSEP or ESEP certification, Systems Engineering degree, CMMI).\n * Design for Six Sigma or Six-Sigma (DMAIC) Greenbelt.\n * Familiarity with PLM systems.\n * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\u2011paced engineering environment.\n * Ability to drive alignment among diverse stakeholders with competing priorities.\n * Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.\n * Executive\u2011level communication skills for customer negotiations and technical justification.\n * Analytical, structured problem\u2011solving mindset.\n * Self\u2011starter with creativity and initiative.\n\n\n\n## What we offer: \n\n * Competitive compensation and benefits package\n * Challenging projects in dynamic collaborative team\n * Great company benefits \n * We make your aspirations matter \u2013 Eaton encourages internal promotion, whenever possible\n * We make your growth matter - We invest in our employees for the long term \u2013 not just with salary and benefits, but with ongoing learning and development opportunities made available through Eaton University\n * We make your contributions matter - reliability, safety, efficiency, and sustainability are at the core of our dedication to improving people\u2019s lives and the environment through power management technologies\n * We make your wellbeing matter \u2013 We put your health and safety first.
