Job Description - Lead UX Designer

Position Overview

RDT is seeking a talented and experienced UX Lead to join our Product Management team and lead the design of intuitive, accessible, and scalable user experiences across our B2B insurance platforms.

As our design lead, you’ll play a key role in shaping the end-to-end user journey, from initial discovery and wireframing to visual design and usability testing, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. You'll act as a bridge between users, stakeholders, and engineering, ensuring that all perspectives are embedded in our product experiences.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone who is equally comfortable running workshops and critiques as they are producing high-quality design deliverables. You'll also collaborate with engineering to explore AI-driven UI component and page generation, helping define logic and reusable patterns for scalable, smart interfaces.

You’ll work across multiple product & engineering teams, acting as the UX authority while maturing our design practice and delivering impactful user experiences in a highly available, regulated, and performance-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

UX Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as the UX lead across multiple product workstreams within RDT’s insurance technology portfolio
  • Champion a user-centred mindset and advocate for accessible, inclusive design (e.g., WCAG standards)
  • Facilitate workshops, user journey mapping, and stakeholder reviews
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, analysts, and testers throughout the Agile lifecycle
  • Promote a strong design culture across the organisation, mentoring colleagues and providing UX leadership
  • Act as the lead for stakeholder engagement across design, representing user needs at senior levels
  • Facilitate collaborative design activities including journey mapping, design critiques, and ideation sessions
  • Manage design delivery with third-party providers or external technology partners as required
  • Advocate for a user-centred culture across the entire organisation

Technical Skills & Requirements

UX & Product Design

  • Own and evolve RDT’s design system, including components, tokens, and UI guidelines
  • Collaborate with engineering to explore AI-assisted UI component and page generation
  • Conduct discovery activities including user research, persona development, and journey mapping
  • Translate complex insurance workflows into simple, elegant design solutions
  • Create prototypes, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs using tools like Figma
  • Plan and conduct user interviews and usability testing to validate designs and inform iterations
  • Ensure consistent, accessible, and responsive interfaces across platforms
  • Present design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Plan and execute qualitative research including user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing
  • Map the full user journey to spot and fix pain points across both the user experience and internal processes
  • Champion a user-centred mindset and advocate for accessible, inclusive design that conforms to WCAG 2.1 AA standards
  • Use behavioural and analytics data to drive iterative design improvements

Competency Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years in a UX/UI role, ideally within complex or regulated environments (e.g., finance, health, insurance)
  • Degree or formal training in UX Design or related discipline
  • Understanding of front-end technologies to work effectively with developers
  • Experience designing for accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1)
  • A strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design thinking and complex problem-solving
Essential Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders across product, engineering, and business
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade B2B software
  • Proven success developing or maintaining scalable design systems
  • Confident running workshops, usability testing, and user research
  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, interaction design, and responsive UI
  • Ability to translate complex processes into simple, effective digital experiences
  • Pragmatic and delivery-focused, able to balance strategic vision with technical and business constraints
