We are currently recruiting for a Lead Workshop Engineer to join a specialist aviation MRO organisation supporting the maintenance and overhaul of critical aircraft components and systems.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving, and precision engineering. You'll be involved in the repair, refurbishment, overhaul, and testing of complex aircraft assemblies, with every project presenting its own technical challenge.
Key Responsibilities
Strip and inspect mechanical aircraft components and assemblies to determine condition and serviceability. Carry out mechanical repairs, rebuilds, and precision assembly work. Support component recovery and refurbishment activities to maximise serviceable parts. Work from maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Select suitable repair methods, tooling, and materials in line with industry standards. Perform testing and checks to ensure assemblies meet required specifications. Return components to an overhauled and serviceable condition. Experience
Previous experience in mechanical assembly, overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work. Knowledge of engines, gearboxes, transmissions, or similar mechanical systems would be advantageous. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation. Exposure to hydraulic systems, assembly, or testing is desirable. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship. Methodical approach to fault finding and problem solving. Comfortable producing work instructions or procedures where required. Suitable Backgrounds
The position would suit candidates from industries such as aviation, automotive restoration, military engineering, classic vehicle restoration, heavy mechanical assembly, or similar environments where quality and attention to detail are essential.
