Lead/Director - Security Operations - Hedge Fund

Our client, a technology and data-driven hedge fund, is actively seeking a Director of Security Operations to join their London team. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the implementation of diverse security measures to bolster overall security posture and provide specialized expertise across various domains. As the organization establishes a forward-looking security team dedicated to refining advanced security operations procedures and systems, the Director of Security Operations will play a central role, blending hands-on involvement with leadership responsibilities in a 50/50 capacity.

This role presents a distinctive opportunity to craft the security framework from its inception, involving engagement with an array of technologies, guiding architectural decisions, selecting pertinent tools and technologies, and spearheading innovative projects. Some of the regularly utilized technologies include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Okta, Splunk, Netskope, Palo Alto, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:
Comprehend the company's threat landscape and implement appropriate security controls and capabilities.
Deploy automated and scalable security systems, processes, and controls.
Oversee and monitor security initiatives throughout the organization.
View security as an enabler of business objectives.
Lead and mentor team members.

Requirements:
Thorough understanding of security engineering principles.
Experience in mentoring or holding leadership positions within the cybersecurity domain.
Strong technical proficiency in operating systems, cloud computing, and network engineering.
Familiarity with offensive security tactics from an adversary's perspective.
Hands-on experience with security operations processes and systems, encompassing security monitoring, intrusion prevention and detection, network security, endpoint management and protection, identity management, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
Ability to identify threats in distributed environments and effectively respond to them.
Programming skills in any high-level language.
Strong emphasis on taking ownership of issues and demonstrating commitment to resolution.
