Learning Architecture Consultant (Financial Services)

We are seeking a strategic and innovative Learning Architecture Consultant to lead the design and governance of a market-leading learning and capability framework within a leading financial services organisation. This 12-month fixed-term contract offers the opportunity to shape and enhance learning programmes, ensuring they deliver meaningful capability development, commercial impact and professional excellence across the business.

This role will be responsible for creating and overseeing a comprehensive learning architecture that ensures curriculum consistency, quality and continuous improvement across multiple professional populations. Working closely with business leaders and subject matter experts, you will translate organisational strategy into structured, high-impact development pathways that build technical expertise, commercial acumen and professional capability.

Financial services experience is highly desirable. This role can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or London.

Key Responsibilities

* Own and develop the organisation's end-to-end learning architecture, ensuring clear development pathways and alignment to professional standards.

* Design and implement competency-based learning programmes that combine technical knowledge, practical skills, professional judgement, ethical standards and commercial awareness.

* Establish curriculum design principles, assessment frameworks and progression criteria.

* Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, facilitators and external providers to create impactful learning experiences.

* Ensure learning content reflects real-world business challenges, client interactions, market dynamics and regulatory considerations.

* Develop and maintain curriculum maps linking learning outcomes, assessments, qualifications and role-readiness requirements.

* Implement robust quality assurance processes across learning content, delivery, learner experience and programme effectiveness.

* Utilise learner data, feedback and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

* Identify capability gaps and recommend innovative learning solutions, whether through internal development, external partnerships or technology-enabled learning.

* Act as the organisation's learning design authority, ensuring consistency while enabling personalisation and flexibility.

* Manage relationships with learning technology providers, professional bodies and external training partners to support an exceptional learner experience.

About You

We're interested in hearing from candidates who bring a combination of learning expertise, commercial awareness and stakeholder management capability.

You will ideally demonstrate:

* Significant experience in learning architecture, curriculum design, instructional design or capability framework development.

* A strong understanding of the financial services sector, including regulatory learning and professional qualifications.

* Experience designing programmes that focus on practical application, capability development and measurable business outcomes.

* The ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across a complex organisation.

* Strong analytical skills, with experience using learning data and evaluation measures to inform decision-making and programme enhancement.

* Excellent project management, communication and relationship-building skills.
