About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work alongside a Tutor, providing one-to-one support to a child in the South East London area.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young person's educational journey. The successful candidate will support the Tutor in delivering personalised learning activities, helping the child remain engaged, motivated, and confident throughout their learning sessions.
The role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people and who enjoy building positive relationships that help learners thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a child during tutoring sessions.
* Work collaboratively with the Tutor to deliver personalised learning activities.
* Encourage participation, engagement, and positive learning behaviours.
* Support the child's emotional wellbeing and confidence development.
* Adapt support strategies to meet the child's individual needs and learning style.
* Assist with organisation, focus, and task completion during sessions.
* Record observations and provide feedback on progress and engagement.
* Help create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
* Promote independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience working with children or young people in an educational, childcare, youth work, mentoring, or support setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Reliable, professional, and adaptable.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, anxiety, or school avoidance.
* Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field.
* Knowledge of behaviour support and positive intervention strategies.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
