Your new company Hays Education are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in London to recruit a dedicated Learning Mentor.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with students, providing academic, pastoral and emotional support to improve engagement, attendance, confidence and attainment.
Your new role As a Learning Mentor, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to students requiring additional support. Build strong and positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and participation in learning. Support students with academic, social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Help learners develop confidence, resilience, organisation and study skills. Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents to support student progress. Monitor and record student outcomes, contributing to intervention and support plans. Encourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance and achievement. Support students during transition periods and help remove barriers to education. What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will have:
Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring or support setting. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A patient, empathetic and supportive approach. Strong organisational skills and the ability to motivate students. A genuine passion for supporting young people and promoting positive outcomes. The ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and families.Experience as a Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Pastoral Assistant or similar role would be advantageous.
