Location: Harlesden, North West London Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (with potential for permanent opportunities) Pay: £95–£110 per day (depending on experience)
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harlesden is seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team from September 2026.
This rewarding full-time role involves supporting a pupil with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage positively with learning, build confidence, and develop the strategies needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
The school is looking for someone who is calm, resilient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with children. This role would suit candidates with experience in education, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, psychology, social care, or similar support-based environments.
The Role:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and emotional needs
* Supporting emotional regulation and helping the pupil develop positive coping strategies
* Encouraging engagement with learning and participation in classroom activities
* Acting as a positive role model and promoting confidence, resilience, and independence
* Supporting the pupil during transitions, breaktimes, and throughout the school day
* Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and pastoral team to implement consistent support strategies
* Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements to help build self-esteem
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or emotional needs
* Patient, empathetic, and confident building positive relationships
* Able to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Backgrounds in psychology, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, social care, or education are highly desirable
* Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential
