Learning Mentor in Humanities - Leeds

We are representing a dynamic and inclusive secondary school located in the heart of Leeds, dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of every learner. The Humanities department (History, Geography, and RE) play a vital role in shaping critical thinking and cultural awareness in our students. They are now seeking a passionate and empathetic Learning Mentor to support pupils in achieving their full potential within the Humanities curriculum.

As a Learning Mentor of Humanities, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers to support students across History, Geography, and Religious Education.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group interventions to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Track student progress and support those at risk of underachieving.
  • Contribute to differentiated planning and classroom support strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to foster a strong learning environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly in a pastoral or support role.
  • Strong interest or academic background in Humanities subjects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and build rapport with young people.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Degree or relevant qualifications in Humanities or Education.
  • Experience in a school environment or similar educational setting.
