Job Title: Learning Support Assistant with Personal Care

Position: Full-Time

Role type: Permanent

Location: West Midlands

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with mobility and transport across the college site to ensure that lessons can be accessed effectively
  • Assist students with their coursework, homework, and understanding of instructions, ensuring they can participate in classroom activities.
  • Assist with toileting and other personal care needs during the college day.
  • Liaise with college provision to ensure that the student's personal care and support needs are met in a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Support the student with social and physical activities.
  • Support students in achieving their goals outlined in their EHCP's, which may include specific learning strategies and accommodations.
  • Carry out all functions in accordance with current legislation, codes of practice, and college policies.
  • Attend day and evening meetings, courses, college open days, parents' evenings, and other public events beneficial to the college and the individual.
  • Promote and adhere to the college’s safeguarding, health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage student conduct in accordance with college policies.
  • Promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable groups in all aspects of college life and ensure safeguarding arrangements are adhered to at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role, providing support to individuals with special needs.
  • Understanding and experience in managing personal care tasks with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and external parties.
  • Commitment to professional development and adherence to college policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and attend events outside of standard working hours as required.
