Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Do you have an interest in sports, physical activity, or coaching?

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Worker to join a welcoming and dedicated team at a specialist school for children aged 5 to 16 with mental health needs, learning difficulties, and associated behaviours.

This is a unique role combining academic and therapeutic support in the classroom with active involvement in the school's sports and physical development programme.

About the role as a Learning Support Worker:

  • Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage with learning, build self-esteem, and manage emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering lessons, managing behaviour, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Play a key role in supporting sport and physical activity throughout the school day - helping to lead or assist in PE lessons, movement breaks, and outdoor learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to promote progress and wellbeing for every child.

To be a successful Learning Support Worker:

  • A calm, patient and caring nature with a genuine interest in working with children with SEMH needs and learning difficulties.
  • An interest or background in sports, physical education, coaching, or fitness.
  • Experience working with children or young people (in a school, coaching, youth work or care setting) is desirable but not essential - training is provided.
  • Resilient, enthusiastic, and ready to be a positive role model for students who may need additional emotional and behavioural support.

What you gain from working as a Learning Support Worker:

  • A supportive, inclusive specialist setting with a strong team ethos.
  • Small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives.
  • Great experience for those considering a career in teaching, psychology, therapy, sports coaching, or youth work.
  • Full training and development provided.

What you need to know:

  • Position: Learning Support Worker (with Sport Focus)
  • Ages Supported: 5-16 years
  • Location: Banbury
  • Pay: £83-£100 per day (depending on experience)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, term time only
