Job Description - Learning Tutor




12 months contract with a local authority






Job Purpose







  • The Family Learning Tutor is tasked with planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality accredited Family Learning programmes. These programmes aim to support adults, parents, carers, and children in enhancing their skills, confidence, and aspirations. The role is crucial in engaging learners through innovative and inclusive teaching methods, promoting positive parent-child interactions, and supporting progression into further learning opportunities. The tutor will contribute to achieving service targets, meeting funding requirements, and maintaining quality standards. This position involves delivering both face-to-face and online learning, ensuring an engaging, supportive, and rewarding educational experience for all learners.







Key Duties/Accountabilities








  • Plan, prepare, and deliver accredited Family Learning courses using schemes of work, session plans, and diverse teaching and learning methods.

  • Develop learning programmes that cater to diverse learner groups, supporting both classroom-based and online delivery.

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive sessions that foster learner participation, confidence, and achievement.

  • Produce and adapt high-quality learning resources and materials tailored to learner needs.

  • Upload course resources and learning materials onto Moodle and other learning platforms as required.

  • Embed Functional Skills, including literacy, numeracy, digital, and communication skills, within learning programmes.




Essential Experience Required








  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Adult Learning, Further Education, Community Learning, or Lifelong Learning sector.

  • Experience in planning and delivering accredited learning programmes.




Essential Qualifications Required








  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent vocational qualification.

  • Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or above (PTLLS, AET, CET, DET, PGCE, or equivalent).

  • Relevant subject specialism qualification where appropriate.




Additional Information








  • Working hours: 2 hours per week.

  • Enhanced DBS required.

  • Location: 105 Eastgate, North Kesteven, Lincolnshire, NG34 7EN, United Kingdom.

  • Work pattern: Teaching in communities and planning off-site.

  • Bi-weekly schedule.
