This role will require a presence of at least 3-4 days a week on our Birmingham campus, with 1 day working from home to suit the student timetable. You maybe required to be on campus 5 days a week in some cases, based on teaching and meeting requirements. Our hybrid working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit which could changes at any point during your employment, so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Faculty of Foundation Studies is Arden University’s academic gateway into higher education, supporting students from admission and induction through to achievement, progression and future success. About the Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a number of Lecturers to join the faculty to support with the delivery of our Foundation Year course. This will include 16 hours of teaching (4 groups), academic support including office hours and tutorials and facilitating the cover rota in campus. You will be expected to go to campus 3-4 days a week to suit the student timetable.

Responsibilities within our academic programmes include:

• Deliver engaging and dynamic lectures both face-to-face and online for our blended and distance learning students.

• Act as a Personal Academic Coach (PAC), supporting students' engagement, progression and academic success.

• Take on module leadership, ensuring consistent quality and development of learning materials and schemes of work.

• Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments, and provide high-quality feedback.

• Lead or support the creation of new programmes and refresh existing ones to align with industry trends and employer requirements.

• Collaborate with colleagues to provide academic advice and support to students.

• Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support, and assessment

• Assist with student orientation weeks (online) and face to face in campus

• Support students with their assessments including 1-1s, group tutorials and scaffolded assessment feedback sessions

• Assist students through providing reminders and tracking those who are at risk of non-submission via phone calls, online 1-1 tutorials and face to face assessment tutorials

• Work closely to develop our assessment and resit clinics

• Develop/create interactive videos, podcasts and activities that could be shared on our VLE and in-class activities

• Act as a Personal Academic Coach (PAC), supporting students' engagement, progression and academic success.

About You:

We are looking for individuals who understand challenges to student engagement in a university setting and have experience of teaching Foundation Year / academic skills. You must be positive and empathetic to dealing with student issues, ensuring we further engage students with their studies and ensuring positive student outcomes. Our Foundation Year has Business and Social Sciences pathways.

We welcome applications from those with an academic background in teaching some of the following subject areas: academic skills, assessment support, business (accounting and finance, business management, project management), and/or service industry (health and care management and hospitality/tourism). An interest in AI in education, or enterprise/innovation would be advantageous.

Essential Skills / Experience:

• You must have a master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in subject relevant to the teaching area.

• You must have a recognised HE Teaching Qualification and /or Advance HE Fellowship at FHEA/SFHEA level or demonstrate commitment to gain this recognition within 12 months of appointment

• Able to evidence CPD to show your commitment to enhancing your knowledge and teaching capability, including your practical teaching methods and techniques.
