Job Description - Legal Cashier

A leading regional law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their finance team in Peterborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive and professional environment within a firm that values accuracy, compliance, and integrity in all financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing daily banking including office and client account transactions
Processing payments via online banking systems (CHAPS/BACS)
Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
Handling receipts, transfers, and reconciliations for client matters
Monitoring and reconciling client and office bank accounts on a daily and monthly basis
Assisting with preparation for audits and month-end procedures
Liaising with fee earners and support staff to resolve account queries
Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers
Supporting the Finance Manager with ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements:

Minimum 12 months’ experience in a Legal Cashier or similar role within a law firm
Solid understanding of SRA Accounts Rules
Experience using legal accounting software (e.g., LEAP, SOS, Proclaim, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
AAT qualification or ILFM membership (desirable but not essential)
