We are currently seeking an experienced Lettings Officer / Lettings Coordinator to join a busy housing team, supporting the delivery of an efficient and customer-focused social housing lettings service.
The successful candidate will take ownership of properties throughout the lettings journey, from the point a tenancy ends through to the successful allocation and commencement of a new tenancy. This will include managing shortlisting, applicant verification, offers, viewings and ensuring properties are let within agreed performance timescales.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate housing and lettings records, monitoring performance and producing regular reports using the Council's housing management systems. The role will involve making informed decisions on housing applications and ensuring that allocations are carried out in line with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of social housing allocations and lettings, with experience working within a busy housing environment where accuracy, efficiency and customer service are essential.
You will ideally have knowledge of Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII, housing allocations legislation and relevant case law, together with practical experience of managing applications and the lettings process.
You will be:
* Highly organised, proactive and able to manage a varied caseload effectively.
* Comfortable working to targets, deadlines and service performance indicators.
* Experienced in social housing lettings, allocations or a closely related housing service.
* Confident making decisions in accordance with legislation, policy and procedure.
* Able to maintain accurate records and produce performance information from housing management systems.
* A strong communicator who can build effective relationships with residents, colleagues and external partners.
* Customer-focused, with the ability to provide clear and sensitive advice to residents with a range of housing needs.
* Solutions-focused and able to identify practical ways of resolving issues and progressing applications.
* A collaborative team member who understands the importance of partnership working and delivering consistent, high-quality services.
