Summary Of PositionRole Title: Business Diploma TutorDepartment: FE Teaching and LearningSalary: Competitive SalaryHours of Work: 3 days per week- 24 hoursContract Type: PermanentReporting to: L3 Business Diploma CoordinatorLocation: Across BAJ sitesPurpose of the roleTo be responsible for the learning and achievement of all learners you teach; whilst being accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. Have an impact on educational progress beyond your assigned pupils; and assist in the smooth running of the British Academy of Jewellery at all times. Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post.Teaching and learning responsibilityUndertake a teaching program in business, ensuring high success rates by providing both academic and pastoral support to studentsMonitor progress and attendance, and maintain appropriate recordsUndertake planned delivery and provide feedback and guidance to students, ensuring high success ratesComplete assessment of learner work to set IQA deadlinesProduce lesson plans, support materials and other teaching related materials as requiredUndertake general course management responsibilities including admissions and placement support through student interviews as neededEnsure lessons, delivery and assessments meet with the standards set by awarding bodies, prime contractors and other organisations that monitor the AcademyEnsure learners follow the policies provided to themBehaviour and SafetyEnsure the learners abide by health and safety rulesKeep up to date with safeguarding and Prevent, and declarations made when requiredMonitor equality and diversity ensuring students feel safe in the college and receive equal opportunitiesBe a positive role model of health and safety for the learners, demonstrating consistently a positive attitude, values and behaviour, which are expected of learnersTeam Working and CollaborationWork collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationshipsSupport the L3 Business Coordinator in the planning and development of the curriculum and teaching programme for the courseLiaise with the teaching team ensuring quality of delivery across the board, providing cover for other tutors when requiredLiaise with the quality team ensuring records are available for sampling and viewing when requiredSecure productive contacts and links with external organisations, employers and agencies that will benefit students and provide further opportunities for income generation and collaborationProfessional DevelopmentAct as a role model, mentor or consultant to colleagues as appropriate and encourage collaboration, cooperation and teamworkEngage in regular standardisation meetings and training to review the quality of the teaching and learning provision in line with the quality strategyMaintain a professional level of subject expertise by being aware of relevant industrial and technological developments in the field in addition to pedagogic developmentsTake part in regular training weeks and training sessions to enable continuous personal and professional developmentYour application form should show evidence to demonstrate clearly how you meet these criteria:Qualifications:Level 2 qualifications in both Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent)Relevant qualifications in BusinessRelevant teaching and assessing, IV qualifications (or willingness to work towards) and commitment to complete further CPD or teacher training qualifications if requiredAwareness of the regulatory framework for FE academic awards and quality standardsExperienceRelevant teaching experience in the subject of businessProven experience of teamworkDesirable: knowledge of the ATHE L3 Business DiplomaLeadershipStrong supervision and team working skillsSuggests practical solutions to new or unique problemsCommunicationCommunicate effectively orally and in writing adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible wayPlanning and Managing Teaching and ResourcesInnovative approach to course coordination, teaching, learning or professional practice to support excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivityEffective resource management and prioritisation to achieve long term objectivesGood attention to detailAbility to foster constructive cross team collaborationAble to prioritise workloadStudent ExperienceContribute to improving or adapting provision to enhance the student experience or customer serviceEquality and DiversityExperience in promoting equality and diversity Safeguarding (where appropriate)Able to manage safeguarding issues as appropriate to the roleDisclosure and Barring Service Clearance (DBS check) Our Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare: All unspent convictions and conditional cautions All spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected (i.e. that are not filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020)A criminal record will only be taken into account where the conviction is relevant to the position being applied for, and will not necessarily block candidates from employment.
