Job Description - Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Sandwich Technology School, Deal 
Road, Deal Road Sandwich, Kent, CT13 0FA



Sandwich Technology School is an 11 to 18, mixed, secondary school that has an 
excellent reputation across Kent where "Pupils engage well in learning. They enjoy their lessons and behave well. Pupils show respect for each other and value the work their teachers do to support them" (OFSTED May 2019).



We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team.



Apprenticeship Summary:



• Salary: £7.55 an hour
• Working Week: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm
• Hours: 35 hours per week
• Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
• Locations: Sandwich Technology School, Deal Road, Deal Road Sandwich, Kent, 
CT13 0FA



The Role:



To work under the direction and instruction of appropriate staff to support access to learning for pupils by assisting the teacher, including the preparation of resources, implementing agreed work programmes with individuals / groups both within and out of the classroom, and to provide general support in the management of pupils in the classroom.



Main Duties:



Principal Accountabilities:
• Support students’ educational, social, and emotional development under 
teacher and inclusion director guidance.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring Individual Education Programmes (IEPs).
• Provide classroom and extracurricular support to ensure full student 
participation.
• Help maintain student records and prepare learning materials or displays.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including photocopying and exam support (e.g., 
scribing, reading).
• Administer first aid and undertake additional duties as required.



Key Competencies:
• Reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and manage workload efficiently.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and IT proficiency.
• Team player with the ability to work under pressure.
• First Aid trained (or willingness to train).



Performance & Standards:
• Annual performance review assessing objectives and overall effectiveness.
• Uphold the school’s values, dress code, and behavioural standards.
• Participate in staff training and team meetings to support professional 
development.

· Willingness to engage in professional development (CPD opportunities)
· Ability to work within a supportive and friendly team



Training and Development:



As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:



· Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma.
· On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
· Regular review meetings to track progress and development.



What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.



What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
