About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and committed Level 5 Residential Child Care Manager to play a key role in establishing and leading a high-quality residential children's home in Liverpool.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
* Lead, motivate and support the residential care team.
* Provide regular supervision, guidance and professional support to staff.
* Organise staff rotas and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
* Monitor staff performance and identify training and development needs.
* Promote a positive, professional and child-centred culture throughout the home.
Safeguarding & Children's Welfare
* Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people.
* Identify, record and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns.
* Work collaboratively with social workers, local authorities, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies.
* Ensure care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments are implemented effectively and reviewed regularly.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
* Maintain accurate records and care documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
* Ensure policies, procedures and best practices are consistently followed.
* Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided within the home.
* Prepare for and support regulatory inspections.
* Ensure the home operates in accordance with relevant children's social care legislation, regulations and standards.
Staffing & Development
* Participate in the recruitment, selection and retention of care staff.
* Support and deliver effective staff inductions.
* Coordinate and monitor mandatory and role-specific training.
* Conduct staff supervision and contribute to performance reviews and appraisals.
* Develop and maintain a skilled, motivated and consistent care team.
Day-to-Day Operations
Oversee the smooth and effective running of the home.
Manage incidents, complaints and safeguarding matters appropriately.
Maintain effective communication with staff, young people and external professionals.
Manage resources efficiently and contribute to service development and continuous improvement plans.
Participate in an on-call management support rota when required.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
Essential Requirements
* A recognised Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or an equivalent relevant qualification).
* Previous experience working within residential childcare settings.
* Experience supervising or managing staff teams.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Good understanding of relevant children's social care legislation, regulations and quality standards.
* Excellent communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
* A professional, reliable and child-focused approach.
* The ability to lead teams and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
* A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
An Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory employment checks will be required for this position.
