Librarian

School Librarian - Southeast London

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic School Librarian to join a welcoming school in Southeast London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about reading, literacy, and creating a positive learning environment for students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the school library, maintaining and organising library resources, supporting students and staff with book selection and research, and promoting a love of reading through engaging displays, activities, and events.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily operation of the school library.
Catalogue, organise, and maintain books and other learning resources.
Support students in developing research and independent learning skills.
Encourage reading for pleasure through library initiatives and events.
Assist teachers in sourcing appropriate resources to support the curriculum.
Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organised library environment.
Monitor book loans and returns using the school's library management system.

Requirements

Previous experience working in a library, school, or similar educational setting is desirable.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A proactive and approachable attitude.
Good IT skills and the ability to manage library systems.
A genuine passion for literacy and supporting young people.
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.
