This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Lifting Engineer, you will take ownership of the planning and delivery of complex lifting operations within one of the UK’s most significant nuclear construction projects.

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week and based at our Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset site.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

• Producing detailed lift plans, procedures and coordination studies for complex operations


• Selecting appropriate lifting methods, cranes and equipment to meet safety and project requirements


• Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards, legislation and site-specific procedures


• Briefing lifting teams and supervisors to ensure full understanding of plans and safe systems of work


• Identifying hazards, resolving constraints and supporting safe, integrated delivery across site activities

Essential experience of the Lifting Engineer:

• Holding significant experience producing lift plans within major construction or infrastructure projects


• Demonstrating strong knowledge of lifting operations, rigging and crane planning


• Applying a thorough understanding of health, safety and compliance standards in high-risk environments


• Communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and site stakeholders


• Coordinating activities and prioritising workload within complex project environments

Qualifications for the Lifting Engineer:

• CPCS Appointed Person (A61) Blue Card 


• NVQ Level 3 in steel erecting or moving loads 

Security Clearance
