Job Description - Litigation Secretary

Job Title: Litigation Secretary

Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire
Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent
Salary: Competitive
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Litigation Secretary to join a reputable law firm in Trowbridge. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in legal secretarial work, particularly within litigation, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting a dynamic legal team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to litigation fee earners.
  • Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence, and court forms via audio and copy typing.
  • Manage diaries, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings and court dates.
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, courts, and external experts in a professional manner.
  • Maintain and update case files, both digital and paper-based, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with GDPR.
  • Assist with billing processes, including preparing cost schedules and managing disbursements.
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and post, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within a litigation or dispute resolution team.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills (digital dictation experience desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems (e.g., Proclaim or similar).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

Desirable:

  • Experience in personal injury, civil litigation, or family law.
  • Familiarity with court procedures and legal terminology.
