Local Plans Manager offers a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the preparation, implementation and review of a statutory local development framework that will help shape sustainable growth and regeneration for years to come. Reporting into the Group Leader for Plans, Policies and Place Making, you will lead a specialist team, influence key planning decisions, manage complex policy programmes and represent the organisation at high-profile inquiries, examinations and public hearings. This Local Plans Manager opportunity will suit an experienced planning professional who enjoys balancing strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and policy delivery.  

Your Role as Local Plans Manager:  
• Lead the preparation, review and delivery of statutory and non-statutory planning policy documents
• Manage and develop a high-performing planning policy team, providing leadership, supervision and mentoring
• Oversee complex and strategic planning policy issues, ensuring effective implementation of adopted policies
• Act as the lead advisor on planning applications, pre-application enquiries and major development initiatives
• Represent the organisation at public inquiries, examinations and hearings, presenting expert evidence where required  

Your previous experience as a Local Plans Manager:  
• Extensive experience within Planning Policy, Local Plans or Strategic Planning in a local authority environment
• Proven track record of managing complex policy projects and delivering statutory planning documents
• Experience leading, motivating and developing professional planning teams
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence elected members, partners and external agencies
• Ability to prepare committee reports, present evidence and manage consultants and technical studies effectively
