Blackwell Earthmoving Limited, part of Hargreaves Services Plc, is a leading specialist in bulk earthworks, soil stabilisation, and land restoration, delivering complex infrastructure works across the UK.
With involvement on nationally significant projects including HS2, Sizewell C and the Lower Thames Crossing, we are seeking an experienced 3D Machine Controls & Modelling Specialist to support the successful delivery of major earthworks operations.
This role will be responsible for managing and supporting advanced machine control technologies, survey control systems, GNSS equipment, and 3D modelling across site operations. Working closely with engineers, surveyors and plant operators, you will play a key role in driving accuracy, productivity and efficiency across the project.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain 3D machine control systems across a fleet of earthmoving plant.
* Configure, calibrate and validate machine control equipment to ensure site accuracy.
* Create, convert and upload design models into machine control software platforms.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting for machine control hardware and software.
* Establish and maintain survey control networks across the project.
* Set up and manage GNSS base stations and site positioning systems.
* Collaborate with engineering and surveying teams to ensure models are correctly implemented.
* Produce earthworks volume calculations, material movement reports and progress tracking information.
* Generate as-built survey records, including isopachyte and verification reports.
* Deliver operator training and support whilst ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Requirements
* Previous experience within surveying, machine control, or earthworks engineering environments.
* Strong knowledge of Trimble Earthworks machine control systems.
* Experience using GNSS and Total Station surveying equipment.
* Proficiency in creating and managing 3D machine control models.
* Experience using Trimble Business Centre (TBC) or similar modelling software preferred.
* Understanding of earthworks operations, bulk excavation and material management.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and digital design information.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to support site teams and plant operators.
* Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between project locations Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
