£35,000 - £38,000 + Company Benefits + Days Based + Progression + Monday - Friday

Birmingham

Are you a Shift Supervisor from a heavy engineering background looking to join a long-established manufacturer, where you'll lead a busy machine shop team, provide hands-on technical support, and have a clear progression path to Operations Manager?

Established in the 1800's, this long-standing heavy engineering specialist delivers high-integrity forged and machined components into critical sectors including aerospace, defence, marine, nuclear, oil & gas and power generation. The company focuses on large-scale, complex, tight-tolerance components, offering in-house open die forging, machining, heat treatment and testing capabilities.

In this permanent early shift role (6:00am-2:00pm), you will lead a team of up to 15 machine shop operatives, planning workloads, monitoring production and ensuring quality, safety and delivery targets are met. You'll remain hands-on on the shop floor, supporting fault finding, resolving production issues and working closely with Maintenance, Quality and Engineering teams to keep the department running efficiently while driving continuous improvement.

This role would suit a Shift Supervisor similar from a heavy engineering background, with experience leading manufacturing teams and a hands-on approach to fault finding, looking to progress into an Operations Manager position.

The Role:

Lead and support a team of up to 15 machine shop operatives
Plan daily workloads to meet production and delivery targets
Provide hands-on fault finding and production support
Liaise with Maintenance, Quality and Engineering teams
Drive continuous improvement and maintain H&S standardsThe Person:

Shift Supervisor or similar within heavy engineering or similar
Experience leading manufacturing teams and planning workloads
Hands-on fault finding and problem-solving experience
