Job Description - Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias)
Salary: £45,000 + bonus
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire (LS27)

Days and Nights

A global manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias to join its engineering team at a high-performing production site in Leeds. This role is focused on ensuring the continuous operation, reliability and improvement of plant and equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities across the site, working closely with production, engineering and external suppliers. The role requires a hands-on, proactive engineer with strong mechanical fault-finding capability, supported by a good level of electrical knowledge. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, support preventative maintenance activities, and contribute to the validation and commissioning of new plant, equipment and automation.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include maintaining and troubleshooting moulding machines, automated assembly systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and ancillary equipment, carrying out fault finding and root cause analysis, and ensuring all plant and equipment is maintained in a safe and compliant condition. You will maintain accurate maintenance records, identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, support efficiency and safety initiatives, and contribute innovative mechanical engineering solutions to improve plant performance.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a mechanically biased, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer who is comfortable working independently in a high-pressure manufacturing environment. You will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, make data-led decisions, and work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to support business objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience
You will be time-served through an apprenticeship and hold a City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. A strong mechanical bias with supporting electrical fault-finding skills is essential, along with experience in a manufacturing or production environment. You will have a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and clear verbal and written communication skills.

What’s on Offer
The role offers a salary of £45,000 plus bonus, alongside long-term stability within a well-established global manufacturing business. You will benefit from strong investment in training and development, an inclusive and values-driven culture, and an attractive benefits package including generous holiday allowance and life assurance
