Maintenance Engineer Ripon, North Yorkshire Full Time | Permanent
An established and growing food manufacturing business in the Ripon area is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to take full ownership of engineering and maintenance operations at site level.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive engineer who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and the chance to make a genuine impact. Reporting directly to senior management, you will be the lead engineering professional on site, responsible for maintaining production equipment, facilities, and utilities while overseeing a Site Support Technician.
The Role
* Lead all planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site.
* Ensure maximum equipment reliability and production uptime.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
* Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
* Manage engineering contractors and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
* Maintain spare parts stock and engineering documentation.
* Ensure all engineering activities are completed in line with health, safety, and food manufacturing standards.
* Provide guidance and direction to a Site Support Technician supporting the engineering function.
About You
* Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer or Senior Maintenance Engineer position within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
* Experience working independently and managing engineering priorities.
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement practices.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation within manufacturing.
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent) are desirable.
